Cork City Council advises that water was restored to the Mercy University Hospital and adjoining areas earlier today (Tuesday, 12^th January)

The following areas in the city currently experiencing supply interruptions can expect to a return of full water supply by 9am tomorrow morning (Wednesday, 13^th January) and, as a precautionary measure, a Boil Water Notice will be issued for these households:

         Richmond Hill

         Assumption Rd

         Rathmore Rd

         Commons Rd

         Dublin Hill

         Redforge Rd

         River View

         Meadow Park

Alternative supplies are available from standpoints at the following locations. Standpoints will be operated from10.00am to 6.00 pm today (Tuesday, 12th January). People are asked to bring their own containers and, as a precautionary measure, the water should be boiled before use.

         Blackpool Church (by the Community Centre)

         Gurranabraher Church, Catherdral Road (300m beyond the Church on the way to the North Cathedral).

         Cattle Market Place (off Shandon Street)

         Collins Barracks, Old Youghal Rd (outside main entrance)

         Comeragh Park, The Glen

The current heavy demands on the city’s water supply system has resulted in low pressure in some areas and supply restrictions overnight.  Parts of Blackrock/ Ballinlough and adjoining areas are currently affected by a major water leak on the Centre Park Road.

Roads

The rise in temperature has meant that city road conditions have improved greatly with snow and ice now substantially melted.  There have been sporadic instances of flooding and this situation will continue for some hours in the current rainfall.  Other roads may also become affected by fallen trees and other storm debris.

Cork City Council is advising motorists to continue driving with caution.
