Retail Strategy

Cork City Council and Cork County Council jointly commissioned consultants to prepare the Cork Strategic Retail Study (March 2008) and has been adopted into both Council’s Development Plans. The strategy set out in the City Development Plan 2009-2015 is based on the findings of the study and will replace the Joint Retail Strategy. It will form the agreed basis on which each authority will be able to formulate appropriate development plan objectives or policies for retail development in its area and which will be used in the determination of applications for planning permission.  

It is policy of Cork City Council to include the Cork Planning Authorities’ Joint Retail Strategy in current and future development plans together with appropriate objectives that will secure its implementation.
