On the 27th April 2009 Cork City Council completed the review of the 2004 City Development Plan and formally adopted the Cork City Development Plan 2009 - 2015, which came into effect on 25th May 2009.
The City Development Plan 2009 - 2015 is composed of three main volumes:
Volume 1 (Written Statement) : Contains the main text of the development plan containing the objectives and policies for 17 separate chapters;
Volume 2 (Mapped Objectives) : The zoning and development objective maps which accompany the above text. There are twenty maps in total covering the entire city;
Volume 3 (Specific Built Heritage Objectives) : Outlines the Record of Protected Structures, the Record of Monuments and Places and the Architectural Conservation Areas in the city.
As per Article 13(I) of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 a Strategic Environmental Assessment Statement of the City Development Plan was also prepared.

The printed version of the plan is available for purchase at the planning department's public counter and / or through the planning policy section of the City Council at a cost of €65. An interactive CD containing all volumes and key associated documents is also available for purchase at a cost of €5.
The printed version of the plan is also available for viewing at the planning department's public counter and at all Cork City library branches throughout the city.

Notice is hereby given that Cork City Council has, in pursuance of the provisions of the Planning and Development Acts 2000 - 2006, made a Variation No. 1 (Farranferris Local Area Plan) of the Cork City Development Plan 2009 - 2015 on the 7th December 2009.

The proposed variation, Variation No. 2 (Carrigrohane Park and Ride Facility), relates to a material change in the Cork City Development Plan 2009 – 2015 to facilitate the development of a Park & Ride facility on lands currently used and zoned for sports. The proposed variation is:
(i) The change in zoning of an area of land (1.52 ha) zoned as “Sports Grounds”, to “Public Infrastructure and Utilities”.
As required by the Planning and Development Acts 2000 - 2009 the variation was placed on public consultation for a 4 week period from the 16th June 2010 to the 14th of July 2010. This period of consultation has concluded and the Council are now in the process of considering all submissions made during the statutory timeframe. Within 4 weeks a Manager's Report will be prepared summarising all submissions made and outlining a response to the issues raised. This Report will go before the Members of the City Council for their consideration in September.
